Install

The installation is easy. Even if you are a newbie in Linux there is not much room for errors, but a basic knowledge of email routing and traffic is required. Estimated time is 30 minutes.

The simplest path is the customized ISO image (recommended). The steps below install Scrollout F1 on a fresh Debian system instead.

Important

• Make sure you provide valid network settings: you need a working Internet connection during installation.
• Do not attempt to install on an existing system! You cannot have multiple postfix, spamassassin or clamav instances. Deploy Scrollout F1 on a fresh Debian system.
• Scrollout F1 does not run on OpenVZ (network configuration incompatibility).

1. Download Debian Server

A clean Debian operating system must be installed. Do not use a system that already runs other applications and services such as a web server or email server: the installation process overwrites the existing settings. Get Debian from debian.org (64-bit netinst). The installation process is almost identical to Ubuntu.

2. Install Debian

When you are asked to configure the network connection, make sure you enter the correct settings. You need a working Internet connection during installation.

3. Install Scrollout F1

Log in to the Debian terminal console with your user and password (for Debian use the root account). Make sure your Internet connection works, then type:

apt-get install sudo -y
sudo -i
cd /tmp
sudo apt-get install ca-certificates -yq
wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/scrollout/files/update/scrolloutf1.tar/download -O scrolloutf1.tar
tar -xvf scrolloutf1.tar
chmod 755 /tmp/scrolloutf1/www/bin/*
/tmp/scrolloutf1/www/bin/install.sh

Press ENTER every time you are asked a question to select the default answer. When it is done, the web interface address and the default admin password are displayed:

• URL: http(s)://host-ip/
• User: Admin (default)
• Password: 123456 (default)

Change the default password after your first login. To uninstall run:

/var/www/bin/uninstall.sh
